Siesta Key Beach is famous for its beautiful water, awe inspiring sunsets, and of course that crystal-white sand.
The sand is made of 99% pure pulverized quartz. There is no other sand quite like it. Even on the hottest days it will feel cool on your feet.
It has a Memorizing effect on people that you have to feel to believe. Just one of the awards it has won is "The Best Sand Beach in America". (The Travel Channel, 2004) Not too shabby.
Since Siesta Beach is very popular, try to get here by 10:30 AM on weekends. It draws such large crowds that even the
800 car parking lot fills up. After the lot is full it's time to head to Turtle Beach. Turtle may not have that powdery
sand, but it's a much more private beach.
Siesta beach is a great family beach. For the kids there is a huge shaded playground. Plus the water is shallow and there's also year-round lifeguards for protection. This all adds to the allure of this half-mile, paradise like beach.
